Dell Laptop AC Adapter – US and UK compatibility?
I bought a dell laptop model Inspiron E 1405 in the US.
Shortly i moved to the UK and using the same adapter connecting it to the plug without any converter.
Apparently i find that the adapter gets heated quickly.
Do i need to use a convertor for using the ac adapter here in the UK? FYI my Adapter Specifications are
65 AC Adapter
Input : AC 100 – 240V ~ 1.5A
Output : DC 19.5 V
Should i need to use a convertor, do let me know where can i buy one or does dell supports the same

Looking at the input voltage range this is OK. Dropping the extra voltage may increase the temperature of the psu, but they get very hot anyway.

If it is too hot to the touch then there is something wrong with the adapter, otherwise you are OK using it the way you have it now. Do not put in a converter. Try putting the adapter in a vertical position versus flat. It will get cooler that way.

Don’t worry the power supply was MFG for 110V or 250V and yes it will be hot because it twice the voltage but you can buy a small transformer from just a bout any hardware store for around $ 5 US that will work good for your power supply but then the transformer will get hot and your power supply for your Dell will be a lot cooler…. Anyway I live in the Philippines and plug my power supply for my Dell Laptop into 250V here for over two years and yes it get very hot at times but no problem…
