How do I get a new dell laptop battery under warranty?
My Dell Inspiron 1440′s battery recently reached the end of its usable life. Since my laptop is covered by Dell’s warranty, am I able to get a new replacement battery free of charge? How might I go about procuring this item?

Call or contact them through their web site. They have all your warranty info. You will just need to provide them with the computers service tag number. It is on the bottom of your computer.

Great netbook,
Bought this netbook for traveling and surfing the Internet on the couch. Added the 2Mb memory stick and upgraded to Windows 7 professional (had a friend with a technet subscription). Please research Windows 7 options before deciding if Windows 7 starter will be fine as you will most likely have to pay extra if you want to go with a Windows 7 OS with more options. All in all I couldn’t be happier with this netbook as it works great for what I use it for and the price was excellent. The Dell model is 1012 not 1018 which I wasn’t totally positive about until I received the netbook. This came in the brand new Dell packaging and it even had a T-mobile Sim card thrown in if you wanted to get a data plan with them. I don’t want the monthly cost at this point so I removed the card and accompanying software from the computer. The full keyboard is extremely functional and the screen size is nice enough. The touch pad takes some time to get used to but wasn’t a huge issue for me. Overall the netbook in black on top and white on the bottom looks sharp.
Excellent computer for browsing the Internet and doing everyday Office tasks (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Stay away if you are running software that hogs resources. I bought the AmazonBasics Netbook Bag with Handle for it which also worked out well.

Decent computer,
Out of the box, performance is slow, but expected considering it comes preconfigured with only 1gb memory. The Windows Starter OS is fine for personal use, but for the business user needing access to corporate domains, you need to upgrade to Win 7 Pro. After upgrading to 2gb memory, performance improved. the computer has been running better than expected. Installed 2 business apps that run pretty decent. Internet access for surfing is good. The computer out of the box is fine for a first time computer user who has no idea what slow performance is like. But for the more savvy user, you need to, at the least, install the 2gb memory upgrade. Field personnel carry these to their client meetings, the form factor is small and light for staff, that make it less stressful than carrying laptops. The ultimate decision to purchase this was that form factor won over technology, therefore, useability by the individuals became more important in the buying decision.

You go to the manufacturer’s website you look up the telephone number for Technical Support. You call that number. You describe the problem to them, and you arrange to ship it back to them for repair.
