my dell laptop charger is not charging please help?
i have a dell inspiron 1525. it is exactly 1 year old. recently, my charger is not working. whenever i plug it in, the light does not go green (which is does whenever it is charging). i tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but this does not help. i tried turning it on without the battery, and it did not turn on. i don’t know what to do or how to fix this. i don’t have the money for a new laptop, it’s only 1 year old! please help

it sounds as if you might have a bad connection somewhere as power is not getting to the charger when you plug it into the wall. I don’t think you’ll have to go to the lengths of replacing the laptop, you may have to replace the charger though which won’t be horrendously expensive. The vast majority of these chargers are solid state so they can’t usually be repaired, unless there’s some way of getting to the wiring inside. I would suggest taking the computer and charger to a reputable retailer and see if they can supply another charger. If you have access to another computer, try Dell’s website to see if you can get a charger for your Inspiron.

I don’t know where you purchased your laptop at but I would check there to see if they had an extra charger. It really does sound like it is. I had to replace alot of dell chargers while working for the government. No need to buy a new laptop if that is the case. Good Luck!

1. Charger is dead or
2. Broken wire in charging ckt.
3. On board charging circuit is faulty.
If friend has same unit borrow charger and see if it runs on charger alone. If so then your charger is bad. May need to replace.
If replacing charger DO NOT GET THE GENERIC ones but get genuine Dell charger for your model.
My 1525 charger is working after 18 months and I use it all the time. I even bought extra when I bought it ($30) just in case original dies.

your battery may have kicked the bucket? ebay has them for about $20 or so! it could also be the ac adapter its self but that is unlikey if it still powers on your laptop and lets you run it plugged in? then it is probably the battery?

It seems like your dell charger is dead. Dell laptop chargers are known to be short-lived. If Dell’s warranty covers the laptop charger, call the customer service and see if they would replace it since it’s still pretty new. If not, you should consider buying a compatible laptop charger because it would cost you much less than buying directly from Dell. You should to able to get a list of websites by searching on google.
However, I would personally recommend TopmicroUSA.

It’s a legit, trustworthy website I’ve worked with. The qualities are much better than those from ebay as well. The prices are very reasonable, consider the fact that they offer both lifetime warranty and free shipping.
Here’s the link to your laptop model for your reference:
